Same or next day

Gate opening by itself

The driveway or pedestrian gate opens at odd times without anyone using a remote, intercom or button. It may happen at night or repeatedly over a few days.

Gates & Automation

A gate that cannot be opened or secured is treated as urgent.

01LIKELY CAUSES

What usually sits behind this symptom, and what tells one cause from another.

  • Stuck or faulty remote

Problem stops when remotes are removed or batteries taken out.

  • Receiver learning unknown remotes

Receiver memory includes codes not accounted for.

  • Control board or wiring fault

Open command present at the board with no input.

02BEFORE ANYONE VISITS

What you can safely check.

  • Collect all remotes and check for stuck buttons.
  • Remove remote batteries one at a time to identify a culprit.
  • Use manual lock or release if security is a concern.
  • Note the times it happens.

03WHAT WE MEASURE

We check each input to the control board — remotes, intercom, buttons, loops — for unwanted signals, audit the receiver memory and inspect wiring for faults.

04IN A VILLA

Villa gates often have many remotes issued to family, staff and drivers over the years, and receivers rarely get cleared. Wiring runs underground and through pillars where water and heat affect it.

05THE FIX

Which repair, and when.

An unexpectedly open gate is a security and safety risk, particularly with children or pets.

  1. Clear and reprogram remotes

Unknown or faulty remotes are present.

  2. Repair the input wiring

    A wiring fault triggers opening.

  3. Replace the control board

    The board has failed.

06Typical villa gate callout

AED 200 – 1,100 depending on the fault

Sensor alignment, remote programming and track clearing sit at the lower end. Capacitors, control boards and gearbox work sit higher. Full motor replacement is quoted separately after inspection.

07QUESTIONS

Can someone else open my gate?
If unknown remotes are stored, possibly; clearing the receiver helps.
Should all remotes be reprogrammed?
Clearing and re-adding known remotes is a sensible step.
Can I lock the gate meanwhile?
Use the manual lock if available.
Could it be the intercom?
A fault in the entry system can send open commands.
