Villa Pool Maintenance and Equipment Faults
We maintain pools; we do not build or rebuild them. That distinction matters because the two jobs attract completely different work and completely different people, and a maintenance visit should not turn into a sales pitch for a renovation. What we deal with is the running of the thing: water that goes cloudy and will not clear, a pump that loses prime overnight, filtration that short-cycles, and the enormous seasonal swing in chemical demand between February and August. Most persistent water problems in Dubai villa pools trace back to circulation and filtration rather than to chemistry, which is why adding more chemicals so often fails to fix them.
01WHAT WE GET CALLED FOR
Ordered roughly by how often we see them. The “tell” is the observation that separates each one from the others.
Water stays cloudy despite balanced chemistry
Chemistry tests fine but clarity does not return. Filtration or circulation rather than dosing.
Pump loses prime overnight
Needs re-priming each morning. Air being drawn in on the suction side, usually at the lid seal or a union.
Green tint returning within days of treatment
Recurs quickly after shocking. Insufficient turnover or a filter no longer doing its job.
Filter pressure climbing much faster than it used to
Shorter and shorter intervals between cleans. Filter media at the end of its useful life.
Surface debris no longer clearing at the skimmer
Weak surface draw. Blocked basket, low water level, or a suction-side restriction.
Chemical demand suddenly much higher in summer
Expected seasonally to a point — a sharp jump beyond that suggests circulation or shading has changed.
02WHAT’S DIFFERENT IN A VILLA
Dubai summer turns a villa pool into a genuinely demanding system. Water temperature climbs, evaporation accelerates, chemical demand rises sharply, and the same run time that kept the water clear in March stops being enough by June. A pool that is running perfectly well in winter can go cloudy in July with nothing having broken at all — the turnover simply is not keeping up. That is the first thing we check on summer clarity complaints, and adjusting run times often resolves what looks like an equipment failure. It is also the recommendation that makes us the least money, which is rather the point.
03ON SITE
How we work through it.
Test and record
Full water testing with the results written down, so changes over successive visits are visible rather than guessed at.
Check circulation before chemistry
Run time, turnover, skimmer draw and return flow. Chemistry cannot fix a circulation problem and dosing harder just costs money.
Inspect the equipment set
Pump operation and priming, filter pressure against its clean baseline, and the condition of seals and unions.
Correct in the right order
Circulation issues first, filtration second, chemistry last. Doing it the other way round is why problems come back.
Leave the numbers behind
You get the readings and what was adjusted, so the next visit starts from evidence.
04Typical villa pool servicing
Quoted per visit or on a regular schedule
Depends on pool volume, equipment set and visit frequency. Equipment repairs are separate and quoted after inspection. We do not carry out pool construction or full renovation.
05QUESTIONS WE GET ASKED
- The water will not clear even though the chemistry tests fine. Why?
- Because clarity is mostly a filtration and circulation outcome, not a chemistry one. If the water is not passing through the filter often enough, or the media has stopped working, balanced chemistry will not make it clear. We check turnover and filter performance before recommending any additional dosing.
- Do I need to run the pump longer in summer?
- Almost certainly. Higher water temperature raises demand across the board, and the run time that was adequate in winter often is not by mid-summer. Extending it is the cheapest fix available and it resolves a good share of summer clarity complaints on its own.
- Do you build pools or do renovations?
- No. We maintain and repair pools that already exist — water, circulation, filtration and equipment. Construction and full renovation are a different trade and we do not take that work on. If that is what you need, we will say so plainly rather than stretch into it.
- The pump needs priming every morning. Is it failing?
- Usually not the pump itself. Losing prime overnight almost always means air is getting in on the suction side — a perished lid seal, a loose union, or a water level that has dropped below the skimmer. All are cheap to fix and worth checking before replacing anything.
06TELL US WHAT IT IS DOING
Describe what your villa is doing.
The more detail you give us — which rooms, when it started, what you’ve already tried — the better prepared we arrive.
