Scheduled visit
Filter pressure climbing much faster than it used to
After a backwash the gauge drops back to its clean reading, but within days it is high again — when it used to last weeks. The filter is loading up faster than before, or the backwash is no longer cleaning it.
Pool Maintenance
Normally scheduled. Equipment failures that would leave the pool stagnant are handled sooner.

What usually sits behind this symptom, and what tells one cause from another.
Media caked with oils, calcium or fine dust
Media inspected: clumped, crusted or mud-balled rather than loose.
Backwash too short or valve not seating
Waste water still cloudy when backwash stops; multiport valve checked.
Higher load from dust, leaves or algae starting
Skimmer and pump baskets filling faster; water condition reviewed.
Faulty or blocked pressure gauge
Gauge swapped or checked against a known reading.
02BEFORE ANYONE VISITS
What you can safely check.
- Note the clean pressure straight after a backwash and the reading days later.
- Watch the sight glass or waste outlet during backwash — when does it run clear?
- Empty the skimmer and pump baskets and note how fast they fill.
- Check whether dust storms or garden work coincided with the change.
03WHAT WE MEASURE
We confirm the gauge reads true, open the filter to inspect the media, check the multiport valve and backwash routine, and compare pressure against flow at the returns. Water chemistry is checked because scaling water cakes media quickly.
04IN A VILLA
Villa pools sit in gardens with trees, lawns and nearby construction plots. Fine dust in the hot months loads a domestic-size filter much faster than in winter, so a backwash routine that worked in February may not be enough in July.
05THE FIX
Which repair, and when.
High pressure means low flow. Filtration weakens, water quality drops and the pump works harder for less.
Chemically clean the media and reset the backwash routine
Media is coated but intact.
Replace the media
It is mud-balled, crusted or past its service life.
Repair the multiport valve or replace the gauge
The equipment, not the media, is at fault.
06Typical villa pool servicing
Quoted per visit or on a regular schedule
Depends on pool volume, equipment set and visit frequency. Equipment repairs are separate and quoted after inspection. We do not carry out pool construction or full renovation.
07QUESTIONS
- How often should I backwash?
- By pressure rise, not by calendar. A common guide is when the gauge reads well above its clean value; we set a figure for your filter.
- Can I just backwash more often?
- If the media is caked, more backwashing wastes water without restoring it.
