02BEFORE ANYONE VISITS

  • Note where cracking concentrates.
  • Tap nearby tiles for hollowness.
  • Avoid harsh cleaners that erode grout.
  • Keep wet areas dry where grout is missing.

03WHAT WE MEASURE

We map where cracking concentrates, tap-test the tiles around it for hollowness, and check whether the floor has movement joints at thresholds, perimeters and across large areas. Regrouting without dealing with the movement leads to the same cracks in the same places.

04IN A VILLA

Villas have large continuous tiled floors running through living, dining and hall areas, often with big glazed walls that heat the floor in the afternoon. Heat and slight settlement cause movement that small apartment floors never experience, and grout is the first part of the floor to show it.
