White paint turning yellow
White ceilings, doors, skirting or wardrobe fronts turn cream or yellow, often in kitchens, behind furniture or in rooms with little daylight. Newly painted areas look much whiter than older ones beside them.

What usually sits behind this symptom, and what tells one cause from another.
Oil-based gloss yellowing with age
Gloss finishes on woodwork yellowing more than walls.
Kitchen grease and smoke
Yellowing heaviest near cooking areas; cleans partly.
Lack of light in enclosed areas
Yellowing worst inside cupboards or dark rooms.
02BEFORE ANYONE VISITS
What you can safely check.
- Clean a small area to see if it is dirt or the paint itself.
- Note whether woodwork or walls are affected.
- Check the kitchen extract is working.
- Note the paint products used if known.
03WHAT WE MEASURE
We test cleaning, identify the existing coating type, and check for grease or nicotine contamination. That decides the primer and finish for a lasting repaint.
04IN A VILLA
Villas often have large kitchens with heavy cooking, and many fitted wardrobes and doors painted in gloss. Rooms used rarely and kept shut get little light.
05THE FIX
Which repair, and when.
Yellowing is cosmetic, but it gets worse and makes patch repairs stand out.
Clean and repaint with non-yellowing finish
The coating has aged.
Degrease and prime
Kitchen grease is present.
Improve extraction
Cooking fumes continue to stain.
06Typical villa painting work
Quoted after survey — area and preparation dependent
Preparation is the variable, not the paint. A villa needing crack repair and moisture remediation costs substantially more than one needing coats alone, and we would rather show you why on site than give a number that changes later.
