Shower or basin draining slowly
Water pools around your feet in the shower or sits in a basin before slowly draining with a gurgle. It usually affects one fitting rather than the whole bathroom, and gets steadily worse over weeks.
Plumbing
Active leaks are treated as emergencies. Pressure and drainage complaints are normally same-day or next-day.

What usually sits behind this symptom, and what tells one cause from another.
Hair and soap in the trap
Trap opened and found partly blocked.
Build-up in the first section of waste pipe
Drain camera or rod shows restriction beyond the trap.
Poor fall on a linear shower drain
Water ponds away from the drain when the floor is checked.
02BEFORE ANYONE VISITS
What you can safely check.
- Remove and clean the drain cover and any hair catcher.
- Check whether other fittings in the same bathroom drain normally.
- Avoid harsh chemical drain cleaners, which can damage seals and pipes.
- Note whether water pools in one corner of a walk-in shower.
03WHAT WE MEASURE
We open and clear the trap, then test flow. If it is still slow, we inspect further down the waste with a camera or rods. For walk-in showers, we check the floor falls to the drain, because ponding can look like a blockage.
04IN A VILLA
Villa bathrooms often use linear drains and walk-in showers with long, shallow waste runs, which collect hair and soap more easily than a standard trap. Long hair and frequent use in family bathrooms add to it.
05THE FIX
Which repair, and when.
Standing water in showers soaks grout and can reach the waterproofing below; it also encourages smells and growth.
Clear the trap and waste
A local blockage is found.
Clean and refit the linear drain
The channel is fouled.
Correct floor falls
Water ponds because the floor does not fall to the drain.
06Typical villa plumbing callout
AED 200 – 1,400 depending on access
Tap, trap and fixture work sits low in the band. Pump and vessel replacement sits mid. Anything requiring buried-line access or surface breaking is quoted only after the leak is located, because the location determines most of the cost.
07QUESTIONS
- Should I use drain cleaner?
- It can damage seals and pipes; mechanical clearing is safer.
- Why does water pool in one corner?
- The floor may not fall correctly to the drain.
- How can I prevent it?
- Use a hair catcher and clean covers regularly.
